LOS ANGELES – KFI AM radio and Fox 11 teamed up with The Salvation Army in support of their “Operation Feed Our Families” campaign, a fundraiser and food drive that raised more than $120,000 and 45,000 pounds of food.
The “Operation Feed Our Families” campaign was launched in an effort to replenish The Salvation Army’s Southern California food pantries following a 50 percent boost in food requests by financially struggling families and a declining amount of donations during the country’s recession.
On Dec. 9, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., monetary and food donations were accepted in person at Ayres Hotel in Anaheim and The Americana at Brand in Glendale, as well as online, by phone, and by mail.
Scooble.com, the online resource for finding the best pet food and products, donated $500 to the cause: “During these hard economic times, organizations like The Salvation Army and programs such as their ’Operation Feed Our Families’ are the things making it just a bit easier for some families,” Scooble.com’s Rob Chell said. “It’s an honor to contribute.”
